Who Decides When a Patient/Client Can't

Thursday 09/27/2018 05:00 PM - 07:15 PM
Silverado Naperville
1936 Brookdale Rd, Naperville, IL 60563

This session will discuss the types of decision-makers that Illinois law recognizes to make decisions on behalf of adults: agents, guardians, and health care surrogates. Before you can successfully work with these decision-makers you need to (1) understand that the decision maker is legally entitled to make the decision at issue, and (2) know the extent of a decision-maker’s authority and what standards he or she should apply when making decisions on behalf of a disabled adult. This presentation will discuss these issues, and more, along with questions commonly asked of elder law attorneys.

Presented by Attorney Melissa Kallio, JD (formerly LaPointe)
Attorney with the Elder Law Firm Dutton Casey & Mesoloras,
