Understanding the Surrogate Decision Makers - CEU Event

Thursday 03/15/2018 08:30 AM - 10:30 AM
Lexington Square - Elmhurst
400 West Butterfield Rd, Elmhurst, IL 60126
Presented by Melissa LaPointe, JD, Dutton Casey & Mesoloras, PC

This session will discuss the types of decision-makers that Illinois law recognizes to make decisions on behalf of adults: agents, guardians, and health care surrogates. Before you can successfully work with these decision-makers you need to (1) understand that the decision maker is legally entitled to make the decision at issue, and (2) know the extent of a decision-maker’s authority and what standards he or she should apply when making decisions on behalf of a disabled adult. This presentation will discuss these issues, and more, along with questions commonly asked of elder law attorneys.

Registration sign-in: 8:30am – 9:00am
Presentation: 9:00am – 10:30am
