Understanding Decisional Capacity: How a Neuropsychologist Can Evaluate and Legal Options for Substitute Decision Making

By attending this session, participants will learn
1.How neuropsychologists evaluate cognitive functioning for the purposes of diagnosis and treatment planning.
2.The primary uses of a neuropsychological assessment.
3.The levels of decisional capacity needed to engage in the contract of power of attorney for healthcare and property.
4.Rights and responsibilities of an agent under power of attorney including those that the agent doesn’t have.
5. The guardianship process and the role, authority, and powers of a guardian.
