Objectives:
~ Review rights and responsibilities of an agent under power of attorney including those that the agent doesn’t have
~ Guidance on the guardianship process and the role, authority, and powers of a guardian
~ Overview of legal remedies available to adult protective services including access and freeze orders
~ Discussion of legal safeguards that can be put in place by clients to protect from neglect, abuse, and financial exploitation

Presented by: Melissa LaPointe, JD
Melissa concentrates her practice in elder law, with a focus on long-term care planning, which includes Medicaid and VA planning, litigation for vulnerable adults against abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and guardianship estates. Her vast knowledge and presentation style make her the perfect person to speak on this important topic.
